Welcome back to the weekend preview, with the midweek European adventures a thing of the past, we now look forward to 8 premier league matches, and the first trophy of the season up for grabs for the victors of the Carabao Cup final.
We did pretty well with the midweek tips, winning 3 bets from a potential 5 in the end, with only Liverpool and Real Madrid letting us down, as all gamblers we want a much better return this time around.
Everton vs West Ham United
Saturday 15th March 15.00
We start the weekend with a possible very happy reunion for David Moyes against his old side West Ham, which could be made happier still if his in form Everton side can continue thier amazing upturn in form and get the victory. With only 1 defeat in Evertons last 5 Premier league matches, and notable draws against Liverpool and a win away at Palace, Everton should be confident of a positive result this weekend.
Constrastingly West Ham have definitely struggled on the road of late, with one minor caveat with an away win against Arsenal. They will almost certainly play a different style in this match however and more than likely attach Everton head on, this could be a mistake.
Tip - Everton to win - 23/20
West Ham fans may or should already be regretting what they wished for in the replacement of Moyes, more pain could follow after this matchday has concluded, as it's hard to see past a home win.
Prediction - Everton 2-0 West Ham
Ipswich vs Nottingham Forest
Saturday 15th March 15.00
Our next match up sees two teams at either of end the table. The home side fighting for survival, whilst the away side are enjoying the season of a lifetime, and dreaming of European nights once more.
Ipswich have a poor record of late with no wins in their last 5 premier league matches. Forest have a solid return of 2 wins from their last 5, with a very notable win over Man City last time out. .
Tip - Hudson-Odoi to score or assist - 11/8
This match boasts players having impressive seasons in both teams. Chris Wood, Gibbs-White, Liam Delap and both Forest centre backs and keeper to name but a few.
One of the standout players week in and week out is our choice though. Calum Hudson-Odoi has been fantastic in nearly all that he's done this season, and I'm betting he makes the difference in some way again.
Prediction - Ipswich 1-3 Nottingham Forest
Manchester City vs Brighton
Saturday 15th March 15.00
The next match has a lot of importance on it for both sides, Man City really have to get back to consistent winning ways to keep top 4 chances alive, and Brighton have to keep performing well with their own European hopes definitely still alive and kicking. Their last meeting came during City's torrid spell and Brighton took full advantage, with a late winner from ex Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley.
Recent form of both sides doesn't make pretty reading for the Champions however, City have only 3 wins from their last 6 matches in all competitions, whilst on the other side of the coin Brighton have been faultless, winning their last 6 in the same timeframe.
Tip - Erling Haaland to score anytime - 8/11
Although this match on paper and probably in reality is very tough to call, Erling Haaland's ability to nearly always find the net, means that's arguably the best avenue for value in this match.
I for one am really looking forward to this match, it has end to end belter written all over it, early apologies for the inevitable bock now placed upon it.
Prediction - Manchester City 2-2 Bighton
Southampton vs Wolves
Saturday 15th March 15.00
This match could be seen as the possible dull match in an otherwise exciting weekend of football. However having seem a lot of both sides this season, they both without question can play attractive, attacking football on their day.
The problem with Southamptons approach to staying in the league this season are bare for all to see I'm afraid. They were far to focused and defiant, on playing out from the back that it cost them time and time again.
Wolves also went through their own struggles in the first half of the season. But when both sides decided to replace their managers, their fortunes took very different routes. Wolves and their new boss found themselves turning a corner for the better and climbing the table slowly, whereas Southampton continued to nosedive back towards relegation.
Tip - Both teams to score - 8/13
As initially outlined in the opening remarks regarding this match, Southampton can play very attractive, and fluently attacking football, this is why I feel they will have some success in front of goal.
However their dreadful performances in defence leave me with little hope of a clean sheet, or positive result for that matter even without Wolves having Cunha available.
Prediction - Southampton 1-3 Wolves
Bournemouth vs Brentford
Saturday 15th March 17.30
One of the surprises of the season has to be the consistently impressive form of the cherries. With home wins over Arsenal, Man City, Spurs and Forest this season, it's amazing to think where they could have been without the injuries in attack.
Brentford have had a mixed season thus far, with most of the campaign seeing them boast an fortress-like home form. The performances on the road however must have Thomas Frank scratching his head in bewilderment.
The stark difference in home and away form, sees the Bees far lower in the table in a what could have been season. Bournemouth however have the distinct possibility of a European place, sitting a mere 3 points behind Newcastle in 6th, definitely within reach.
Tip - Justin Kluivert to score anytime - 5/4
The venue of this match could make all the difference, with both sides earning majority of their respective points in front of their home crowds. Bournemouth's incredible home record this season cannot be looked past, aswell as Brentford's unsteady away form. We can see another strong performance from the cherries, sending the Bees home with nothing.
Prediction - Bournemouth 3-1 Brentford
Arsenal vs Chelsea
Sunday 16th March 13.30
This next match showed two teams with much promise in the league, with both now wishing that the season ends tomorrow and they remain where they currently stand.
Arsenal's recent form in the league has been average at best, 1 goal in their last 3, and 1 win in their last 5 matches mean it's easy to see where the title push went wrong.
Chelsea's decline was altogether more confusing, flying so high just before Christmas, with a title dream in sight. However now clinging onto a top 4 place could be a very tough uphill struggle from here on, with other teams nipping at their heels from all sides.
Both teams have struggled massively in front of goal lately, and it's hard to see that changing, so we think defenders could win the day.
Tip - Under 2.5 goals - 10/11
This is a match that could produce fireworks, I'd love to see fantastic attacking football with plenty of goals. Unfortunately it's very hard to see such a rapid turn around from either side, that and this also being a London Derby means it could easily be a very cagey affair.
Prediction - Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea
Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur
Sunday 16th March 13.30
Fulham and Tottenham have both been inconsistent of late, both with an impressive wins or two, but also with the occasional slip.
Fulham have a respectable 3 wins from their last 6 in the league, while still hurting from that last second sucker punch loss to Brighton. Tottenham also boast 3 win from their last 6 match in all competitions, with solid wins over AZ and Manchester United in that time.
Fulham out of the two are certainly the more content of the two with their current standing, sitting 10th which is 3 places higher than their opponents, so far this season has been a positive one.
Contrastingly Ange must be cursing his bad luck with injuries this season, definitely one to forget for the spurs supporters.
Tip - Both teams to score - 4/9
Fulham continue to play good football and always seem to threaten every opponent, but spurs do have a lot of their injured players returning, or fit again finally so this could be a very good battle.
Prediction - Fulham 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Leicester City vs Manchester United
Sunday 16th March 16.00
Leicester came up with a lot of promise and hope like many promoted teams before them, unfortunately the gulf in class is clear and present in almost every match.
Manchester United even by their own managers opinion has the worst squad they have ever had in this premier league era. However they still have enough class and recent revival to find a little form to surely sweep aside Leicester with relative comfort.
Bruno has been the one constant player in either squad that just has that x-factor, and ability to make something happen at the drop of a hat. The Portuguese attacking midfielder has an impressive haul of goals recently, either from open play or set pieces, we feel this will continue for this match also.
Tip - Bruno Fernando's to score or assist - 5/6
United have turned somewhat of a corner lately, grinding out 2 wins and 4 draws from their last 6 matches, by any means necessary seems to be the order of the day. Leicester have been pretty woeful losing their last 6 in a row, only scoring in 1, which coincidentally was the Fa cup loss to Man United. We just can't see Leicester having any joy this week, just like the last.
Prediction - Leicester 0-2 Manchester United
Liverpool vs Newcastle United
Sunday 16th March 16.30
Here we have the contest of the weekend, the first chance for silverware of the year and a huge day for two very different reasons.
Liverpool had a huge disappointment this week, crashing out of Europe at the hands of a fantastic PSG side. They also went out of the Fa cup, so losing this final is surely out of the question is it.
Newcastle are having a very good season thus far, the final of this competition and sitting in a respectable 6th place. The vast majority of Newcastle fans have never seen them win a title, so the stakes are just as high for the Toon, if not more valuable.
The teams recent forms are pretty decent, with Liverpool winning 4 from 6, including beating Newcastle in the league recently. Newcastle also boast a decent 3 wins from 6, but again that loss must be fresh in the memory.
Tip - Both teams to score - 8/13
Both teams have amazing attacking players, who score goals at ease when they are on form, so we go for oth teams to score for the value betting tip. Both teams also have important injuries and players missing due to suspensions, this will surely have an impact on proceedings, and it's my belief that Liverpool will just about cope with their missing players slightly better. Let's just hope it's the spectacle we all hope for whichever way the match comes out.
Prediction - Liverpool 3-2 Newcastle United
All in All..
Good luck to you all.
