Welcome back to another Betting Men weekend preview. Last week's tips were some of the worst we've had in the last few weeks, let's get back to profit this week.
Fulham vs Everton
Saturday 10th May 15.00
Form - Fulham have been very average lately, they have only mustered 2 wins from their previous 5 matches. In that time they have also lost the other 3.
Everton have also struggled lately, after a fantastic start under the returning stewardship of Moyes. The last 5 matches has seen 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.
Coming into the last two matchweeks this match has all the hallmarks of a "nothing game". Neither side have legitimate hopes of European football so it could either be an all out attack-fest; or a completely letdown.
Tip - Over 2.5 goals @ Evens
We hope for the former, with plenty of attacking intent and hopefully plenty of goals.
I'm thinking this could be a very attacking, fast paced match. We could easily see a goal-fest. However, we also have two fantastic goalkeepers that could keep the scoring down a little.
Prediction - Fulham 2-1 Everton
Ipswich vs Brentford
Saturday 10th May 15.00
Form - Ipswichs form has been pretty dreadful all season. It really hasn't improved of late, with merely 2 draws and 3 losses in the last 5.
Brentford on the other hand have been fantastic in the last few weeks. With 3 good wins and 2 solid draws in their last 5 matches, they are one of the form teams in the league.
Tip - Kevin Schade score or assist @ Evens
Brentford's attacking players have been fantastic this season. Wissa and Mbeumo tend to get all the laudits but recently Schade has quietly scored or assisted in nearly every match recently.
With the drastic differences in either sides recent and longer term form. It's very hard to look past anything other than an away win.
Prediction - Ipswich 1-3 Brentford
Southampton vs Man City
Saturday 10th May 15.00
Form - Southampton have possibly the worst form in the entire league. With 1 solitary draw and 4 losses in the last 5 matches.
Man City have arguably the best current form in the league. They have simply been imperious winning all 5 of their last matches. Pep has once again found a way to win consistently even when struggling.
Tip - City to be winning at half time and full time @ 8-13
City have not only won all their recent matches, they have also scored early very often. City to be winning early and to not relinquish that lead is very solid odds.
Southampton really haven't shown much to give evidence of a surprise result this weekend. I have actually gone conservative with the scoreline it could easily be more.
Prediction - Southampton 0-3 Man City
Wolves vs Brighton
Saturday 10th May 15.00
Form - Wolves form has been fantastic lately. When the new manager came in they were in a relegation dogfight. They are now not only safe but could actually get a top half finish with 6 wins from their last 7 matches.
Brighton's form has completely stuttered of late. They were one of the teams in a fantastic position to get guaranteed European football next season. However, weeks of average results means they currently sit in 10th, much lower than their early form predicted.
Tip - Both teams to score @ 4/7
Both teams have very good attacking players. So backing both teams to score at what seems very good odds seems a "no brainer"
Both sides play attractive attacking football with solid defences. I feel this could mean both sets of players cancelling eachother out. An exciting 1-1 draw is my call.
Prediction - Wolves 1-1 Brighton
Bournemouth vs Aston Villa
Saturday 10th May 17.30
Form - Bournemouth's performances haven't been amazing but the results they have picked up have been. The Cherries haven't lost in their last 5 with 2 wins and 3 draws respectively.
Aston Villa's form can be described as solid of late. Nothing special but ticking along nicely with 3 wins from 5, losing the other two. They do still hold put slim hopes of Champions league football, but may have to settle for the lower echelons of Europe.
Tip - Villa or the draw @ 4/7
Villa's desperate need for positive results means they will definitely be giving their all in the last two matchweeks. The odds make it a hood return for the planters too.
Both sides are very close in the table being 7th and 8th. They also both have European places to play for, so this could mean a low scoring draw is a good possible outcome.
Prediction - Bournemouth 1-1 Aston Villa
Newcastle vs Chelsea
Sunday 11th May 12.00ko
Form - Newcastle have been great this season, not only winning a trophy but also playing well enough to currently sit in 4th currently. They've only lost 1 of their last 5, with 3 wins in that time.
Chelsea started this season amazingly, their form then nosedived off a cliff in the middle of the season. In their last 5 matches however they have won all of them. Which means they have a really strong chance to return to the Champions league next season.
Tip - Newcastle to win @ 23/20
Newcastle's performances in big matches this season have been great. They've beaten Liverpool Arsenal and City this season, so winning this one at home could go like the others.
Both sides have plenty of attacking talent in either their starting line-ups or if they need to turn to the benches. With a lot on the line it could either be a tense affair or an all out brawl for the spoils.
Prediction - Newcastle 3-2 Chelsea
Man United vs West Ham
Sunday 11th May 14.15
Form - United have head a dreadful season this year but lately they have found a way to grind out a few performances and results. In their last 5 matches in all competitions potions they have managed a respectable 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss. This is a vast improvement on the league form which sees them sitting in 15th!
West Ham's form has been similarly abysmal. The intended impacts of two new managers has definitely not has the desired eggect with them sitting in a laughable 17th position. The Hammers also have no wins in their last 5 matches with 2 losses and 3 draws.
Maybe the positive head to head record will buoy the London side, they have won 3 of the last 4 head to heads.
Tip - Both teams to score @ 4/6
This tip is not based on the attacking output of either side. It is based on the dreadful defences and goalkeeping performances. Goals could come through mistakes rather than great play.
This was a hard match to call with neither side easy to back for the win. So I simply went with the head to head record and how poor United have been at Old Trafford this season.
Prediction - Man United 1-2 West Ham
Nottm Forest vs Leicester
Sunday 11th May 14.15
Form - Have Forest let Champions league football slip right at the very death?. It would appear so with only 1 win in their last 5 matches, and currently sitting in 6th position. A great season still, but a wonderful season was agonisingly just out of reach it seems for the Forest boys.
Leicester's awful and embarrassing performances have brought them a very quickly return to the Championship. They did at least find a victory last time out to give something back to the fans who have followed them in vain this season.
Tip - Elanga to score or assist @ 8/11
I would have loved to back Vardy to get his 200th goal, but my head took over from the heart and backed what is fsr more probable. Elanga has been a standout player this season, with plenty of goal involvements which has helped Forest to a very unexpected lofty league position.
Leicester's woeful defensive performances paired with the rapid counter attacking qualities of Forest. Mean i must go with a very comfortable home victory this weekend. Let's hope Vardy gets a chance for his big moment though.
Prediction - Forest 3-0 Leicester
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
Sunday 11th May 14.15
Form - Tottenham's league struggles have been clear for all to see. They currently sit in 16th which even opposing fans couldn't have dreamt of pre-season. In the last few weeks They have found some semblance of performance. They have 2 wins in the league in their last 3, that paired with impressive European performances makes for good reading for Spurs fans finally.
Palace are and have been the quintessential " solid " Premier league team for what seems years. They never seem to do anything special but always end up mid-table and save for next season. This season they do have some great performances and an impressive FA cup final run to speak of though. The recent form looks as solid as ever with 1 win, 1 loss and 3 draws from their last 5 league matches.
Tip - Palace to win @ 23/20
Players like Mateta, Eze and Sarr playing brilliant football lately means i think we could easily see an away win. Especially with Spurs having key injuries to Son and Maddison which severely blunts the attack for the home side.
Tottenham have the far better head to head record of the two sides. They have won 3 of the last 4 matches the sides have met. However, Palace did manage to win the last outting, and with the previously mentioned injuries Spurs have to contend with i just can't bring myself to back a home win this weekend.
Prediction - Tottenham 1-3 Palace
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Sunday 11th May 16.30
Form - Liverpool's form hasn't been great or bad of late. It has simply been exactly enough for what they needed at the end of the season. They have won 3 from the last 5 Prem matches, losing the other 2 which really doesn't mean a great deal to them now they have lifted the Premier league trophy.
Arsenal have clearly just run of out steam lately. Playing in multiple competitions with a depleted attacking line has seem performances and results grind to a halt. The Gunners have only 1 league win and 1 draw with 3 losses in their last 5 matches. Which has meant holding onto 2nd position might be a struggle at this current rate.
We finally had what should be one of the ties of the weekend. Unfortunately with all the trophies and titles already heading to their respective homes, this match will probably be nothing compared to what we all hoped it would be.
Tip - Liverpool to win @ Evens
With no pressure or expectation on the home side. It should be easier for the team to relax and play the brilliant football we've seen them play all year. It's been a long time since Liverpool to win at home was anywhere near Evens.
Neither side have a monopoly of outcomes when it comes to this match-up. Both teams have had good wins in the recent head to head history. Liverpool do just shade this with 1 extra win over their London based opposition.
When you match up the two teams, with player vs available player. Liverpool currently have a far stronger possible starting line-up. They also have much stronger players to bring off the bench, for those reasons it's easy to see a home win for the Champions.
Prediction - Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
